Consultative Group for Science Education

This Governing Board Consultative Group on Science Education was established in 2024 to explore a possible role for the ISC in the area of science education, in response to longstanding requests from ISC Members to address pressing issues around science literacy and trust in science.

The ISC Governing Board considered that the education of scientists should produce better understanding of the values, philosophy and ethics of science and of the linkages with society and policy making, and better skills in science communication and transdisciplinary and disciplinary research approaches. The Consultative Group met six times over the course of 2024 to discuss issues, problems, challenges and opportunities for science education, and to distill recommendations for the ISC. The report of the Group will be shared on this page in due course.
