Predicting the climate of the next decade

Predicting the climate over the coming years – on a multi-annual to decadal timescale – is a flourishing field of scientific research, and this kind of ‘near term’ climate prediction was chosen by the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) as one of its ‘Grand Challenges’. We spoke to Adam Scaife, Head of Long-range prediction at the UK Met Office and co-chair of the Scientific Steering Group for the WCRP Grand Challenge, to find out more.
