The ISC Centre for Science Futures published a significant report ‘Preparing National Research Ecosystems for AI: Strategies and progress in 2024’, which includes a thorough review of existing policy reports and documents on AI in science, accompanied by 18 country-specific case studies. These case studies highlighted key developments in AI and its implications for research and innovation.

The case studies investigate the role of science institutions and universities in shaping AI policies and priorities, alongside an assessment of the opportunities and challenges AI presents to science. By engaging experts from countries with diverse research ecosystems, the initiative fosters the sharing of experiences, strategies, and lessons learned in adopting AI for scientific advancement.

Through this initiative, the Centre provides a forum for dialogue, encouraging collaborative exploration of how AI can best serve the global research community.
