The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), and the University of Colorado Boulder aim to strengthen regional resilience to climate variability. To this end, they have organized regional seminars focused on improving the connection between recent scientific advances and their application in meteorological and climate operations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The main objectives are:

  • Analyze the operational implications of asymmetry in ENSO predictability.
  • Exchange experiences among WMO Regional Climate Centres.
  • Strengthen collaboration between the region’s scientific and operational communities.

The target audience is scientists, operational forecasters, and technical staff from National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) and Regional Climate Centers in Latin America and the Caribbean.
