Heide Hackmann appointed IIASA Distinguished Visiting Fellow

Chief Executive Officer of International Science Council, Heide Hackmann, joins distinguished network of leaders at the science-policy interface.

IIASA (The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis) in Laxenburg, Austria, is an independent, international research institute with member organizations in Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe. IIASA conducts policy-oriented research into issues that are too large or too complex to be solved by a single country or academic discipline.

IIASA Distinguished Visiting Fellows contribute to the academic life of IIASA by enriching IIASA’s efforts to address complex problems related to global development, new technologies and a growing population. IIASA Distinguished Visiting Fellows are appointed for three years, after which the appointment may be reviewed and extended.

Heide Hackmann holds membership of several international advisory committees and boards, including the Scientific Advisory Board of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (Germany), the Board of the Stockholm Resilience Centre (Sweden), the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (Germany), and the Excellence, Impact and Engagement Committee of the Oceans Frontier Institute in Canada. She is a member of the UN’s 10-member group supporting the Technology Facilitation Mechanism (TFM) on the Sustainable Development Goals.
