Professor Mitsuo Uematsu has over 30 years of experience in atmospheric chemistry and marine biogeochemistry. His research focuses on the Surface Ocean-Lower Atmosphere Study (SOLAS), an investigation of the dynamic processes occurring across the sea surface. He previously chaired the Japanese National Committee for IOC of UNESCO and currently co-chairs Future Earth Ocean KAN. As chair of the International Science Council/Regional Committee for Asia and the Pacific, he advises on strategic approaches for natural and social sciences in the region.
