Background

Professor Supawan Tantayanon is a distinguished chemist and educator, renowned for her contributions to science education and innovative research in chemistry. She is currently a professor at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, where she has dedicated her career to advancing chemical education and promoting sustainable practices. She also serves on the Advisory Board of Education and Outreach for the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Professor Tantayanon earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and has published extensively in polymer chemistry and small-scale chemistry experiments. Her pioneering work in small-scale chemistry has transformed laboratory instruction, making it safer, more cost-effective, and environmentally friendly, especially in resource-limited settings.

In addition to her research, she has held prominent leadership roles, including President of the Science Society of Thailand and President of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS). She has chaired numerous national and international committees and played a pivotal role in organizing global conferences, fostering collaboration and equity in science education. Her commitment to mentorship and capacity-building initiatives continues to inspire and empower the next generation of scientists and educators.
