Ulsía Urrea Mariño is a researcher specializing in integrated management of coastal zones in Latin America and the USA, Mexican policy on oceans and coasts, climate-resilient coastal urban development, and science diplomacy actions in the Gulf of Mexico. As a PhD candidate, her thesis examines strategies for building urban resilience to climate change through nature-, community-, and infrastructure-based solutions in coastal regions. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Ocean Knowledge Action Network (Ocean KAN) and co-organizes its “Listening Sessions” in Latin America and the Caribbean ahead of UNOC-3. In 2023, she received the “Research For Change on the Environmental Awareness Month” award from MAXQDA in Germany for her doctoral proposal.
