The Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific currently has the following staff:
Mazlan Othman, Director
Malaysia’s first astrophysicist, Mazlan has a history of working in the advancement of science and a distinguished career which includes Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs from 1999 – 2002, and 2007 – 2013, and founding Director General of ANGKASA, the Malaysian National Space Agency from 2002-2007. She took up the ICSU ROAP Director role in September 2017. Mazlan studied Physics at the University of Otago, Dunedin on a Colombo Plan Scholarship where she also took her Ph.D. in Astrophysics. Mazlan was the first woman awarded a doctorate from the Physics Department in the nearly 120 years since its founding.
Ahmad Sufyan Mohamed Aslam, Science Officer
Sufyan leads programmes addressing disaster risk reduction and climate change. Having joined the Office in 2017, Sufyan collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders in furthering the goals of the Office. Sufyan has a background in Biomedical Science with a Masters degree from the University of Melbourne.
Farah Ismail, Science Officer
Farah Ismail joined ISC ROAP as INGSA Asia Regional Programme Officer in 2018 and recently became Science Officer. She received her BSc in microbiology from the University of Malaya and her MMedSc in public health from the same institution. She was previously employed by UNICEF Malaysia before joining ISC ROAP.
Esther Erin, INGSA Asia Regional Programme Officer
Esther Erin is currently the Regional Programme Officer for INGSA Asia hosted by the ISC Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. She completed her degree with honours in medical biotechnology and is a graduate of Sunway University. She was previously employed by INGSA as social media associate.
Zulkifli Sulaiman, Administrative Executive
Zulkifli joined the Office in May 2020. As the Administrative Executive of the Office, he is responsible in managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of ISC-ROAP Office including give full support to officers in running the Office’s programmes. He has a background in public relations and holds a degree in mass communication (major in public relations) from Mara University of Technology Malaysia.
Farhana Farizah, Assistant Administrative Executive
A highly motivated and hardworking individual, Farhana completed her Diploma in E-Commerce. Her previous work experience includes working for the Department of Higher Education of Malaysia and was previously attached to a Private University as an administrative staff. At the Regional Office, Farhana supports the day-to-day operations of the Office and provide assistance to the Director.
