Belmont Forum announces Mustapha Mokrane as new Co-Lead of Open Data Initiative

<p>Dr. Mustapha Mokrane, Executive Director of <a href="https://www.icsu.org/what-we-do/research-programmes/data-and-information/world-data-system-wds">ICSU World Data System</a>, has been selected as Co-Lead of the Belmont Forum’s <a href="http://bfe-inf.org/">e-Infrastructures and Data Management Project</a> (e-I&DM). He will succeed Dr. Robert Gurney, co-creator of the initiative, who completed his term at the end of September.</p>

World Data System marks fifth anniversary of International Programme Office

<p>A ceremony was held today to mark five years of successful collaboration between the <a href="https://www.nict.go.jp/en">Japanese National Institute of Information and Communications Technology</a> (NICT) and the International Council of Science (ICSU) for the hosting and support of the <a href="https://www.icsu-wds.org">World Data System International Programme Office</a> (WDS-IPO).</p>

Science International to agree international accord on open data

<p>Science International is a new coalition of the major international science bodies – ICSU, the <a href="http://www.interacademies.org">InterAcademy Partnership</a> (IAP), <a href="https://twas.org">The World Academy of Sciences</a> (TWAS), and the <a href="http://www.worldsocialscience.org">International Social Science Council</a> (ISSC) – to bring its members’ combined international representation and credibility to act as a single global voice for science in the international policy arena. At its first meeting, to be held from 7-9 December in Pretoria, South Africa, the participating institutions will discuss the topic of big data/open data.</p>
