Colin Tukuitonga

Dr Colin Tukuitonga is a medical graduate and Public Health Physician with extensive experience in health policy, research, management and leadership in NZ and internationally. He is currently the Director-General of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), a scientific and technical organisation supporting development in the Pacific Islands. Prior to this role, he was the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs for the NZ Government and Associate Professor for International and Pacific Health at the University of Auckland.

Colin Tukuitonga was the Surveillance of Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases Coordinator for the World Health Organization. He also served as a Commissioner in the WHO Ending Childhood Obesity (ECHO) Commission.

In his current role at SPC, he has provided strong leadership and support for data and evidence-based decision making in the Pacific Islands. He is a strong advocate for technical assistance and capacity building in the Small Islands Developing States.
