Ricardo Cardona, 1952-2024

The International Science Council is profoundly saddened by the sudden passing of our friend and colleague, Ricardo Cardona, former Vice-Minister of Education and Science and Technology of El Salvador. Ricardo was a renowned economist and director of the ISC regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean, which was kindly hosted by El Salvador for many years. Ricardo’s presence in the scientific community will be greatly missed.


Véronique Plocq-Fichelet, 1952-2023

The ISC community expresses its profound sadness at the passing of Ms Véronique Plocq-Fichelet, retired Executive Director of the ISC’s Affiliate Member and form ISCU committee, the Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment (SCOPE). Enrique Forero

Enrique Forero González, 1942 – 2023

The International Science Council is profoundly saddened and shocked by the sudden passing of our friend and colleague, Enrique Forero González. Enrique, a past president of the Colombian Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences, acted as the ISC’s Director for the Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean. He also served on the ISC’s inaugural Committee for the Freedom and Responsibility of Science, and was active in the ISC’s predecessor organization, ICSU. His passing has left an irreplaceable void in our scientific community, and in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. Read more ➡️
