Cristin Dorgelo is President and CEO of the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC). ASTC is a network of nearly 700 science and technology centers and museums, as well as other allied organizations, focused on increasing public understanding of—and engagement with—science and technology among all people of all ages.

Cristin previously served as Chief of Staff for President Obama’s Science Advisor and U.S. Chief Technology Officer at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) from 2014 to 2017, facilitating policy development and implementation across a broad spectrum of science and technology issues. Earlier at White House OSTP, from 2012 to 2014, she served as Assistant Director for Grand Challenges, with a particular focus on open innovation approaches and cross-sector collaboration.

Cristin led a White House initiative to increase the number of individuals and organizations pursuing Grand Challenges—audacious yet achievable goals that harness science and technology to solve global and national problems.

Cristin also worked with Federal agencies to use inducement prizes to engage citizen solvers on Challenge.gov. From 2006 to 2012, Cristin was Vice President of Prize Operations for the XPRIZE Foundation, a nonprofit prize institute in Culver City, CA.

She helped launch several technology startup companies at the Pasadena, CA incubator Idealab from 2000 to 2006 and was part of the founding team of X1 Technologies.

Cristin was part of the Leadership and Organizational Development group at Times Mirror before it was bought by Tribune Company in 2000.

Cristin started her career at the Los Angeles Times and holds a BA in History with a minor in Anthropology from UCLA.

She is now President and CEO of the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC).
