General Assembly and Midterm Meetings
The General Assembly meets in ordinary session once every four years and elects a Governing Board, which provides scientific leadership and enables delivery of the vision, mission, principles and values, as well as the financial and management robustness of the Council. A meeting of the membership without voting business will normally be held at the midpoint of the intersessional period.
Governing Board
The ISC Governing Board, consisting of five Officers and ten Ordinary Members, is mandated by the General Assembly to implement its decisions, with the help of the ISC Secretariat.
Advisory Bodies
A number of Advisory Bodies assist and advise the Governing Board on key aspects of the Council’s work and the Governing Board’s duties.

The ISC Statutes and Rules of Procedure as approved by the ISC electronic extraordinary General Assembly in February 2024.
