InterPore is a non-profit independent scientific organization established in 2008 with a young and quickly growing community of members from academia and industry worldwide. InterPore is a unique platform that connects researchers, educators, and practitioners from diverse porous media fields. Members can exchange scientific knowledge and engineering expertise between academia and industry, enabling the development of collaborations, accelerating learning, and facilitating innovation.
The key aims of InterPore, which are supported via committees, annual conferences, local chapter meetings, and various educational opportunities, are as follows:
In 2016, InterPore Foundation was founded to further support the aims of the society and improve its outreach. The Foundation focuses on increasing the dialog between the public and private scientific communities, as well as seeking funding which can be used for targeted awards of excellence, to facilitate participation by promising young scientists in international scientific gatherings by InterPore, to provide financial support for outstanding young scientists from low-income countries to join InterPore activities, and to support InterPore’s educational activities.
In 2020, InterPore Academy was founded. Their mission focuses on advancing and disseminating knowledge within the field of porous media systems by organizing various educational, research and training activities.
The InterPore Journal was launched during the summer of 2023 to further support the mission and goals of the society. This journal, which is an open access, peer-reviewed international journal, has the aim of becoming the main destination for publishing high-quality research on a wide range of multidisciplinary multiscale topics related to porous media science and technology.
