Co-produced research is increasingly regarded as more effective than traditional scientific approaches for engaging with the complexity of current sustainability challenges and contributing to transformative change. However, researchers wanting to engage in meaningful co-productive practices are routinely faced with fundamental questions such as “what are defining principles of co-production?”, “what are the implications in terms of aims, terminologies, and practices?”, and “how to deal with tensions emerging from confronting diverse, and sometimes conflicting, knowledge systems and agendas?”.
