Dr. Qudsia Huda is the Head of Disaster Risk Management and Resilience Unit in the Health Emergency Program of World Health Organization Headquarters.
Dr. Huda brings 24 years of experience in health diplomacy, health security, disaster risk management and humanitarian response, from her engagement in many countries across the world. She held several executive leadership positions across multiple Regions of WHO including Iran Earthquakes, South Asian Tsunami, Pakistan Flood, South Asian Earthquake, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Sudan and Syria crisis, epidemic and outbreaks of Zika virus, plague, Ebola virus diseases and COVID-19 pandemic preparedness and response. Before joining WHO, Dr Huda worked as a medical faculty of Dhaka University, and led the work of Bangladesh Center for Health Emergency Preparedness and Response under the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Huda has led several operational research on emergencies and disasters, authored and co-authored number of books, chapters and articles on various aspects of public health including disaster risk management and health security, specially focusing on governance, multisectoral partnerships and capacity development. She takes special interest in gender equality, human right and sustainable development in her work.
