Future Earth goes to EGU 2013

Future Earth was presented at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly in Vienna on April 9.

Future Earth goes to EGU 2013

The EGU brings together around 11,000 geoscientists from all over the world to discuss all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. Organized by ICSU,  the session, titled, “Future Earth at EGU 2013: Research for Global Sustainability”, featured Martin Visbeck, Chairman of the German National Committee for Future Earth and Owen Gaffney, Director of Communications at the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme. The session introduced the research framework and governance structure of Future Earth to the audience, and explored new opportunities for the programme to use data visualization to reach across academic disciplines, connect with new audiences and potentially change worldviews around global sustainability.

The official EGU blog featured an interview about Future Earth with ICSU’s Anne-Sophie Stevance and Owen Gaffney.
