Important message for ISC members in Latin America and the Caribbean

Announcement regarding the closure of the ROLAC office.

Important message for ISC members in Latin America and the Caribbean

Dear Members,

It is with great regret that we confirm that the ISC Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean has been closed as a result of a financial decision by the government of El Salvador.

The ISC Governing Board and Headquarters team are engaging with members in the region to explore options and, possibly, new models for ensuring the Council’s strengthened presence in Latin America and the Caribbean. We will keep the membership updated on relevant developments in this regard.

On behalf of the Board, I wish to acknowledge and thank the entire ROLAC team, led by Manuel Limonta (Director), and his staff, Oscar Reyes, Claudia Marroquín, Gerardo Aldana and Bertila Gonzalez for their valuable work and crucial commitment to advancing science as a global public good.

Yours faithfully,

Heide Hackmann, CEO,

International Science Council
