ISC Centre for Science Futures is launched, strengthening its partnership with Sciences Po

Paris, 22 May 2023 - The Centre for Science Futures celebrated its successful launch during the ISC Mid-Term Members meeting on the 11th of May 2023. The event witnessed notable participation, featuring distinguished speakers including Peter Gluckman, President of ISC, Mathieu Denis, Head of the Centre for Science Futures, Arancha Gonzalez, Dean of Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA), Sciences Po, and Stéphanie Balm, Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Sciences Po.

Following this occasion, a ceremony was held on the 16th of May, commemorating the official partnership agreement between Sciences Po and the ISC Centre for Science Futures. This alliance cements Sciences Po as one of the esteemed founding partners of the Centre.

Two discussion papers have already been published by the Centre, signalling its commitment to pioneering research and current trends that impact science futures. The first paper delves into the Future of Transdisciplinary Research, demonstrating through history the reason for its emergence and the different issues that must be addressed today for its successful application. Additionally, the Centre has released another compelling paper focusing on the debate around research evaluation and its future, case studies shed light on this critical issue and the open questions lying ahead. The Centre is eager to engage with the public and welcomes reactions and comments on the Transdisciplinary research paper. Your input particularly on your experiences with transdisciplinarity will be of immense value as the Centre endeavors to broaden the conversation. Furthermore, a series of expert blogs on Transdisciplinary research from around the globe will soon follow, enriching the discourse.

At the heart of the Centre’s operations lies the esteemed Advisory Council, comprising top experts from various corners of the world. Their guidance and expertise shape the Centre’s work and direction, ensuring its relevance and impact. 


The Centre also benefits from the collaboration of Research Associates, a select group of highly qualified experts affiliated with the Centre. They play a crucial role in identifying critical research topics and work in close collaboration with the Centre to develop outputs and projects.
