Mobilizing global science action is crucial for the 2030 Agenda. The Global Commission on Science Missions for Sustainability, co-chaired by Irina Bokova, former Bulgarian Foreign Minister and Director General of UNESCO, and Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, has outlined an institutional model and funding mechanisms to accelerate SDG implementation and inform the post-2030 Agenda.
On 17 July 2023, the International Science Council will host a side event, “Harnessing the Power of Science for the 2030 Agenda”, alongside the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and Future Africa from the University of Pretoria.
During the event, the ISC will launch its Global Commission’s report and introduce its model to unlock science’s potential for long-term sustainability in front of high-level representatives attending the HLPF.
