This Members Session provided an introduction to the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science and its implications and discuss the next steps towards its implementation with governments and the scientific community.
The UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science was adopted by the General Conference of UNESCO in November 2021, marking an important step towards the advancement of Open Science. Through this move, Member States have committed to promoting open science as defined in the Recommendation and agreed to report back every four years on the progress made.
As UNESCO begins its work with members and partners towards the implementation of the Recommendation, the ISC organized an informational session with the aim of ensuring that the scientific community remains an active and central partner in this process.
