The Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) and the Nobel Prize Outreach are organizing the Nobel Prize Dialogue Brazil with the main theme of the meeting being “The Value of Science” – an extremely important discussion taking into account the complex moment the world is currently facing. The event represents an unique opportunity to reflect on the role of science in the development of humanity and in coping with the challenges that lie ahead.
This first part of the meeting will feature a conversation between May-Britt Moser, 2014 Nobel Prize laureate in physiology or medicine, and Serge Haroche, 2012 Nobel Prize laureate in physics. For the second half of the discussion, the laureates will be joined by Luiz Davidovich, President of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and Helena Nader, Co-chair of the InterAmerican Network of Academies of Sciences. This session is a prelude to the Nobel Prize Dialogue Brazil 2022, which will bring together Nobel Prize laureates and other thought leaders to discuss ‘The Future We Want’.
In sequence, the Nobel laureates will participate in two roundtables with 40 selected students (20 per roundtable) from all over Brazil. Students will be coming from the Federal District and 22 of the 26 Brazilian States.
The meeting will be held in English and will be broadcast at the Nobel Prize YouTube channel.
