Science in Exile: The unfolding emergencies in Ethiopia and Myanmar

The first webinar of the Science in Exile webinar series is part of the celebrations of the 2021 World Refugee Day, under the theme “Together we learn”.

The webinar will explore the impact of the unfolding emergency in Myanmar and the Tigray region of Ethiopia on scientists and science, hearing first-hand from local scholars and from experts on short-term strategies to uphold science and higher education in times of crisis.

Science in Exile

This project aims to create a network of like-minded organizations that will work together to develop and roll out a coordinated advocacy campaign to support and integrate refugee, displaced and at-risk scientists.

The webinar series will be inaugurated by Prof. Romain Murenzi, Executive Director, UNESCO-TWAS and chaired by Sena Galazzi, Associate Programme Officer, UNESCO-TWAS, featuring:

– Tual Sawn Khai, PhD student, Lingnan University, Hong Kong
