Solar Fuels Network Public Event (Virtual)

The goal of the event is to raise awareness and inform anyone interested in the energy transition. The event will bring together experts working on solar fuels, their deployment a technologies, industrial perspective and policy makers. It will include an open panel discussion with the opportunity for all participants to ask questions.

The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) will be held at the beginning of November in Glasgow, and it is expected that further commitments to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions will be made at the meeting to reduce the impact of climate change.

In the build up to COP26 the public event aims to highlight the potential of solar fuels in the context of sustainable energy supply.  A particular focus will be on the solar fuel hydrogen, which can be generated from water using a catalyst and sunlight.  This allows to store the Sun’s energy in a fuel that can be converted back into energy in a fuel cell or in combustion engines.  Using hydrogen only emits water again and it is therefore a free from greenhouse gas emissions.  This is of particular importance for future cars with long range capabilities and also to be able to store energy that can be fed back into the power network when less solar and wind power is available, for example at night.

Participation is free of charge. Please register here.

If you have any questions relating to the event, please feel free to contact the organiser directly by e-mail Dr Seb Sprick,
