On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (IIIC), UNESCO’s precursor, the UNESCO Archives is pleased to invite you to the International Conference Celebrating A Century of International intellectual Cooperation: from Legacy to Future Action.
Organized at the initiative of H.E. Amb. Simona-Mirela Miculescu, President of the 42nd session of the General Conference of UNESCO, the event will feature a unique blend of panel discussions, premier screening of films from UNESCO’s Archives and the launch of an Exhibition.
The conference will reflect on the IIIC’s past achievements and challenges and will consider new pathways for the promotion of intellectual cooperation by UNESCO towards a more collaborative and sustainable future. It will address issues such as: building peace and mutual understanding, promoting gender equality, advancing technological development for the common good and bridging digital divides.
The event will also provide an opportunity to raise awareness amongst Member States and the public at large about the abundant treasures in the UNESCO Archives, which include the archives of the IIIC.
The sessions will be structured to facilitate knowledge sharing, critical analysis, and the formulation of forward-looking recommendations.
Simultaneous interpretation of the conference proceedings will be provided in both English and French.
