Dominican Republic, Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic

The Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic has been a member since 2008.

The Academy was created in 1974 by a group of eminent local scientists and has been actively involved with international organizations such as the InterAcademy Panel on International Issues (IAP) and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS). It currently hosts the Caribbean Scientific Union and holds the Presidency until June 2010. It participates actively in international activities in order to help the development of technical and scientific professionals in the country.
