Deliang Chen holds the esteemed August Röhss Chair and is also a professor in Physical meteorology at the University of Gothenburg. His extensive research encompasses Earth System Science, global environmental change, and climate dynamics and modelling. He currently focuses on assessing the impact of regional climate changes on water resources, ecosystems, environments, and agriculture in the Tibetan Plateau.

He is an esteemed member of six academies, including the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the World Academy of Sciences. He has actively participated in numerous international and national committees and boards, exemplified by his role as the Chair of the Stockholm Water Prize Nomination Committee. Deliang Chen’s commitment to advancing climate science is evident through his involvement in international climate assessments, notably serving as the coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC, where he has significantly contributed to the understanding of climate change and its societal implications.

With numerous scientific papers published, his scholarly achievements have been widely recognized. He has held leadership positions in scientific organizations and institutions, demonstrating his dedication to promoting climate science. Recently, he was honored with the prestigious H. M. The Swedish King’s Medal for his exceptional contributions to climate research.
