Emmanuel Raju

Emmanuel Raju is a social scientist working to untangle the drivers of disasters. Emmanuel is currently the Director of The Copenhagen Centre for Disaster Research (COPE) and an Associate Professor of Disaster Risk Management at the Global Health Section, Department of Public Health at the University of Copenhagen. He is one of the Editors of the Disaster Prevention and Management journal. Beyond the theoretical contours, his research aims to help identify pathways for societal transformations in an unjust climate change world.

He brings together a combination of critical social science inquiry and insight for practical applications to disaster risk reduction. As a leader, he is committed to creating a research environment which is inclusive, provides equal opportunity for all and also fosters skills of young professionals.
