Jovana Milic

Jovana V. Milić has been Assistant Professor at the Adolphe Merkle Institute of the University of Fribourg in Switzerland since 2020. She has served as Member of the Global Young Academy (GYA) and Executive Board Member at the Swiss Young Academy (SYA), invested in connecting and supporting young scientists globally.

She obtained her Ph.D. at ETH Zurich in 2017 and worked as a Scientist at EPFL before receiving the Swiss National Science Foundation PRIMA Fellowship in 2020. Her research focuses on smart and sustainable materials for renewable energy conversion, and her achievements have been recognized by honors and awards, including the ERC Starting Grant 2023, CAS Future Leader 2019, Green Talents Award 2020, and Zeno Karl Schindler Prize 2021 for contributions to sustainable development.

In addition to research and commitment to multidisciplinary international collaborations, she has contributed to science outreach as Team Leader at the European Young Chemists’ Network (EYCN) in 2019–2021 and as Team Member at the International Younger Chemists Network (IYCN) since 2020. She has co-led the GYA Science Advice Working Group since 2022 and initiated the Swiss Young Network for Science Policy and Diplomacy (SYNESPOD), further contributing to the global efforts in science (for) policy and diplomacy.
