Luke Drury

Luke Drury graduated in pure mathematics and experimental physics from Trinity Coilege Dublin in 1975 followed by postgraduate study in the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge UK (PhD 1979).

He worked at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik in Heidelberg, Germany, before returning to Dublin in 1986 as Senior Professor in the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies where he is now emeritus professor of Astrophysics.  He was International Relations Secretary of the Royal Irish Academy from 2003 to 2007 and President from 2011 to 2014.  He is currently Vice-President of ALLEA, the federation of European Academies, and Chair of its Open Science Task Force.
