Dipl. Ing. Prof. Dr. Magdalena Stoeva, PhD, FIOMP, FIUPESM
Dr. Magdalena Stoeva is the Secretary General of the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM), the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP) and the IUPAP AC4 International Commission on Medical Physics. She is and editor-in-chief of the Health and Technology journal, Spinger-IUPESM-WHO and an editor of the CRC Press Focus series on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering. As such her work is directed towards technological advancements as a driving factor for sustainable healthcare.

Her most recent interests are directed towards the professional development of medical physicists and biomedical engineers, sustainability in healthcare, educational strategies, workplace balance, promoting and supporting science for early career and the LMICs, e-learning.

Dr. Stoeva’s wealth of experience and passion for science have contributed for her active involvement in various ISC activities:
• Delegate of the 32nd ICSU General Assembly (Taipei 2017), the World Science Forum 2019 (Budapest, Hungary), the Mid-term Meeting of ISC Members 2023 (Paris, France)
• Contribution to the ISC Annual report 2019
• Contribution to the ISC-BBC series on Unlocking Science and the ISC Podcast Science in Times of Crisis
• CODATA Ambassador
• Member of the ISC Standing

Dr. Stoeva has expertise in medical physics, engineering, computer systems at academic and clinical level. With over 20 years international academic and organizational experience, she is an active participant in 8 International projects.

Recognitions of Dr. Stoeva’s work are the inaugural Leonardo da Vinci award and the IUPAP Young Scientist Award.

Among Dr. Stoeva’s professional activities are: a delegate in the WHO 3rd Global Forum on Medical Devices 2016; a delegate in the 32nd ICSU General Assembly 2017; a delegate in the European Parliament Interest Group on Biomedical Engineering meeting 2018; a delegate at the World Science Forum 2019; a delegate of the World Laureates Forum 2020.

Her most recent interests are directed towards the professional development of the physical and engineering sciences in medicine, incl. but not limited to educational strategies, gender and workplace balance, promoting and supporting science for young professionals and the LMICs, e-learning, overcoming the global pandemic issues, science diplomacy and leadership.
