Dr. Nkansah is an Associate Professor of Environmental Chemistry and Deputy Director of Student Affairs based at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi in Ghana.

Her research includes finding solutions to environmental problems associated with toxic substances such as heavy/trace metals, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and petroleum hydrocarbons in different environmental matrices. She also explores remediation strategies for environmental contaminants using local materials.

Dr. Nkansah has received training in Science Communication, Science Diplomacy and Science Advise for Policy, and has been on both national and international platforms where science is discussed for better public understanding. She is a thought leader and motivational speaker.
Dr. Nkansah is the Founder of the Women in Chemistry Network (WICN), a member of the Ghana Science Association (GSA), Ghana Chemical Society (GCS), American Chemical Society (ACS), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Affiliate of the International Union of Pure and applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and Member of the TWAS Young Affiliates Network (TYAN).

She is a Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences (GAAS), Executive member of the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development (IYBSSD) and former Executive Committee member of Global Young Academy (GYA).
