Mia Strand (she/her) is an Ocean Nexus Postdoctoral Research Fellow based at the Institute for Coastal and Marine Research at Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha, South Africa.
Her research focuses on cognitive equity in marine science and ocean governance, specifically looking into opportunities to re-imagine processes that value and recognise a plurality of ocean knowledges. Centring transdisciplinary and arts-based research, her work explores how we can foster more equitable collaborations with non-academic co-researchers and partners.
