Michel Jarraud started his career as a Researcher in Numerical Weather Predictions (NWP) as a specialist of mathematical techniques for modelling the atmosphere. He was the Director of the French national forecasting division (Météo-France), deputy director of the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), deputy Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organisation and Secretary General of the WMO between 2004-2015. He chaired UN-Water (2012-2016), and is an invited Professor at the Graduate Institute of the International and Development Studies (2020-2021).
