Professor Roseanne Diab is Emeritus Professor in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban. Recently, she served as Director of the global initiative, GenderInSITE, which is based in Trieste, Italy and chaired the Gender Advisory Committee of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). She is the former Executive Officer of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf).
She is a Member of ASSAf and is recognised for her research contributions in the field of atmospheric sciences, particularly air quality, climate change and tropospheric ozone variability. Prof Diab has over 100 refereed scientific publications and has successfully graduated over 50 PhD and Masters students. She is a Fellow of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the South African Geographical Society, TWAS and the African Academy of Sciences. She has been a Fulbright senior research scholar and has been a member of a number of international bodies such as the International Ozone Commission (IOC).
She currently serves on the African Union High-Level Panel on Emerging Technologies and was recently co-chair of an OECD Expert Group on Reducing the Precarity of Young Researchers’ Careers.
