Sameh Soror is professor and head of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department at the Faculty of Pharmacy Helwan University and Director of the Centre for Scientific Excellence “Helwan Structural Biology Research (HSBR)”. He is also serving as the foreign secretary and supervisor of cultural and scientific relations at Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT). He graduated from Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University and he received his Master and PhD degrees from Kaiserslautern University, Germany.
He was a Co-Chair of the Global Young Academy (GYA) and he has been selected as a member and secretary general of the council of education and scientific research policies at ASRT. He was a member of the National Committee of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the National Committee of crystallography in ASRT and he served as board member of the Global Council of the IAP Science Education Program (SEP). He is a cofounder of the Egyptian young academy of sciences (EYAS). He is also a member of the steering committee of INGSA-African chapter.
Soror gained attention from the World Economic Forum in 2012 during the meeting of new champions in Tianjin, China. He was awarded Egypt state prize for advanced technological sciences, which supports medical sciences in 2013. He was awarded Helwan university prize in basic science for 2013/2014, and Helwan university excellence prize in medical sciences 2017/2018.
