Saui’a Louise Mataia Milo is the current Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the National University of Samoa.  She has taught History at the university for more than twenty years.

Louise received her first degree, Bachelor of Social Sciences/ Diploma in Teaching from the University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand.  In 2007 she graduated from Otago University with a Post Graduate Diploma and a Master of Arts.  In 2017 she was conferred a Doctor of Philosophy from Victoria University of Wellington.  

Louise’s area of research is on Samoan migration and popular culture during the colonial period, and Pacific people’s participation in international conflicts, such as World War I and World War II.  She is an emerging researcher and she is currently working on a manuscript on Samoan women’s experiences during the Second World War.  Louise is also a Samoan woman matai and is an active community worker.
