Background

Tom De Groeve heads the Disaster Risk Management Unit of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. The Unit contributes to the EU’s policies in civil protection, climate change adaptation and disaster risk management, as well as peace building and health emergencies. As a science-policy interface, the JRC brings evidence across scientific disciplines and policy sectors. The Unit manages the Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre.
