The World Social Science Report 2010 aimed to highlight the importance of social science expertise in addressing contemporary global challenges. It reviewed how social science knowledge is produced, disseminated and used in different parts of the world and assessed how the social sciences are coping and evolving in the face of unequal conditions and diverging trends.
The report analysed some of the most critical global problems confronting humanity, as perceived by renowned specialists from across the different social science disciplines. It set out to provide guidance and information for the different actors: agencies which organize, finance, and evaluate social science research across the globe; international organizations and development agencies which address social issues; research associations and scientists; as well as decision-makers at different levels.
