Engaging Stakeholders in implementation and follow up of the 2030 Agenda
Virtual launch: A framework to analyze the quality of stakeholder engagement
Six years into the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, several countries’ strategies to engage stakeholders are still in the early stages. Also, many stakeholder engagement practices are strong in some ways but weak in others, with little guidance available for a systematic analysis. The COVID-19 pandemic has added to the challenge as many governments have fewer resources for, or dedicate less attention to, engaging stakeholders in implementation efforts. At the same time, it is more important than ever to ensure that there is dialogue between authorities and citizens to guide government action and maintain social cohesion.
Against this backdrop, UNDP and UNDESA have developed a framework to enable governments, stakeholders, and development partners alike to examine and strengthen the quality of their stakeholder engagement practices.
The virtual launch will be held on 26 January 2021, from 8:30AM – 9:45AM (EST/New York Time) to introduce the stakeholder engagement analytical framework and user guide. The event will also include a discussion with a number of stakeholders from different sectors on ways to strengthen stakeholder engagement in the 2030 Agenda implementation and follow up, including considering the impact of COVID-19.
