The recently held Fifth World Science Forum 2011 ‘on a New Era of Global Science’, hosted in Budapest on 17-19 November 2011 by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, adopted a Declaration at its concluding session.
In its recommendations the Declaration identified five areas for particular attention: the responsible and ethical conduct of research and innovation; an improved dialogue with society on scientific issues; the further promotion of international collaboration in science; collaborative policies to overcome knowledge-divides in the World; and the need for strengthening capacity building in, and for, science.
The World Science Forum is a biannual event organized by the Academy, and the 2011 meeting was convened in partnership with ICSU and UNESCO.
