Dominique Babini

Dominique Babini is from Argentina, holds a doctorate in political science and a postgraduate degree in information science. She is an Open Science Advisor, and previously Open Access Scholarly Communications Coordinator, at the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), a network of 856 research institutions in 55 countries, mainly in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Dominique Babini represents CLACSO at: REDALYC-CLACSO open access collection of 1.060 Ibero-american social sciences and humanities journals from 24 countries; Executive Board of AmeliCA-Open Knowledge; Advisory Committee on Open Science and Citizens Science, Ministry of Science (MINCYT), Argentina; UNESCO Open Science Partnership; Open Access India Advisory Board; International Science Council (ISC) Steering Group on the Future of Scientific Publishing; Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) BOAI20 co-author as member of the Steering Committee.

Dominique has written and spoken extensively to advocate for scholar-led non-profit open access and open science. Recent year’s publications include: “Tendencias recientes en políticas científicas de Ciencia Abierta y Acceso Abierto en Iberoamérica” (Recent trends in open science and open access policies in Iberoameca, 2020, co-author); “Toward a global open access scholarly communications system – a developing region perspective” (2020, MIT Press, book chapter); Plan S and Open Access in Latin America-a precautionary note (2020).
