Background

Professor Jemaima Tiatia-Siau is a leading expert in Pacific mental health and wellbeing, suicide prevention and postvention, and climate change and mental wellbeing. Her groundbreaking research has significantly improved the futures of Pacific peoples, including authoring the first Pacific-focused review of suicide deaths in New Zealand and creating national guidelines for Pacific suicide postvention. As the first Pacific woman Pro Vice-Chancellor at any New Zealand university, she has transformed Pacific Studies and mentored future scholars. Jemaima’s work has influenced national and international policies, making her a key figure in shaping mental health and wellbeing strategies across the Pacific region.
