Enrique Teran is Doctor in Medicine (MD) from the Central University of Ecuador, Master in International Cooperation for Development (MSc) from the International University of La Rioja in Spain and Doctor in Pharmacology (PhD) from the University of London in England. He has worked as a university professor and researcher for more than 25 years in different institutions in Ecuador, Spain and the United States. His field of study is biomedicine with particular interest in gestational hypertension, metabolic and infectious diseases, pharmacology and public health. He is the author of more than 120 publications in peer-reviewed indexed journals. In addition to being President of the Academy of Sciences of Ecuador (2022-2025), he is a full member of the Ecuadorian Academy of Medicine. He was awarded by the Municipality of Quito with the “Federico González Suárez” Decoration for academic and scientific merit; and the “Eugenio Espejo” Mention of Honor for outstanding personalities in the biological and natural sciences. He is currently a full professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito.
