ISC launches initiative to equip science organizations for the digital age

Eleven ISC Members have been selected to participate in a four-month programme designed to provide expert guidance and foster collaboration within a community of peer changemakers. Their insights will directly inform broader recommendations, set to be released in 2025.

Building on its ongoing efforts to support the scientific community in an evolving digital landscape, the ISC has launched a new initiative focused on strengthening the digital capacity of science organizations in low- and middle-income countries. It will cover a range of related topics – from streamlined data management to effective virtual collaborations and communication, to integrating new technologies into workplace and culture.

As part of the initiative, a diverse group of ISC Members will engage in workshops, webinars, and coaching sessions aimed at advancing their digital journeys.

The participating Members are:

  • Caribbean Academy of Sciences
  • Nigerian Young Academy
  • International Astronomical Union
  • International Society for Digital Earth
  • International Sociological Association
  • International Union of Immunological Societies
  • Scientific Research Council, Jamaica
  • Sudanese National Academy of Sciences
  • Philippine Social Science Council
  • The University of the South Pacific
  • The World Academy of Sciences

The learnings and experiences gained through this programme will be synthesized into a practical report with actionable recommendations, alongside useful tools and support mechanisms for those interested in pursuing their digital journeys independently.

“Digital transformation is no longer a luxury — it’s a necessity. This initiative focuses on ensuring that science organizations, regardless of their resources, have the tools and knowledge to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.”
