Patrons
A Patron to the ISC is a prestigious title given to those who support science as a global public good, by dedicating their time to promote science and its potential to deliver knowledge which can inform transformative political and wider societal responses to contemporary global challenges.
Irina Bokova, Bulgarian politician and diplomat and Former Director-General of UNESCO, currently serves as a Patron of the ISC. Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders, former President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights; Ismail Serageldin, Founding Director and Emeritus Librarian of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and internet pioneer Vinton G. Cerf served as Inaugural Fellows of the ISC from 2018 to 2022, and were appointed to the Council’s Fellowship in December 2022.
