Health promoting and disease prevention properties of African food plants and animals from the SADC Region workshop

The International Science Council Regional Office for Africa (ISC ROA), the South African Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the South African Network for Biosciences (SANBIO) jointly organised a workshop on Health promoting and disease prevention properties of African foods plants and animals from the SADC Region, 13 – 15 March 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Health promoting and disease prevention properties of African food plants and animals from the SADC Region workshop

The aim of the workshop was to encourage and showcase consumption of indigenous African food plants and animals from the SADC Region in order to promote human wellbeing. Another significant purpose of the workshop was the development of context-based value addition of food plant and animals, and commercialisation of the resultant innovative food products and food supplements.
