With almost everything digital due to COVID-19 pandemic, the government services are still hurtling up the transition to correspondingly fulfil the mandates, uninterruptedly provide services, and continuously cater people’s needs.
Twelve (12) years towards its centennial year, the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) aims to re-imagine and future-proof itself to be a Council that is indispensable and strong in providing and integrating services despite changes as its 88th Founding Anniversary revolves with the theme, “Re-imagining, Future-proofing NRCP”.
Years 2020 and 2021 have been exceptionally challenging years for NRCP with the many unforeseen risks and events. The women and men behind the Council will unveil how they re-imagine and future-proof NRCP in the decades to come on December 10, 2021 via online..
On its 88th Founding anniversary, NRCP shows the quality outputs from its numerous basic research and policy programs and projects. The Council creates innovative services and systems to clientele, provides novel ways of espousing stakeholders’ mandates with NRCP, and gets wholly involved to make a change. NRCP will continue its journey in bringing great ideas to life.
For 88 years, NRCP championed basic research, provided scientific solutions and policy advocacies and recommendations not only to the government but also to the private sectors. The celebration this year marks another milestone of stimulating research in various fields, spearheading and monitoring of comprehensive research projects, promoting rich collaboration culture and community among researchers, and providing evidence-based policy recommendations.
As the Council continues its journey, this transition will make its future safe, resilient, and relevant.
Gracing the anniversary are Hon. Loren B. Legarda (Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives), Hon. Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado (Chair on Commission of Science and Technology, House Representatives), H.E. Jorge Moragas Sanchez (Ambassador, Embassy of Spain to the Philippines), Dr. Gregorio E. H. Del Pilar (President, NRCP), and Sec. Fortunato T. de la Pena (Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Dr. Fidel R. Nemenzo, Chair of Division of Mathematical Sciences and Dr. Louie Jon A. Sanchez, Vice Chair of the Division of Humanities will introduce the plenary speakers namely National Scientist Lourdes J. Cruz and National Artist Virgilio S. Almario. The guest speakers will share their thoughts and perspectives in an attempt to encourage the NRCP officials, members, and personnel to continue their diligence in the pursuit of making basic research discoveries and breakthroughs to really work for the people and the country as a whole.
To cap the celebration, a ceremonial awarding of The Loyalty Awards, for NRCP employees who have been working with the Council for 10 years and more will be honored. (Jenny Leigh A. Daquioag, DOST-NRCP)
