The first priority of CODES is to co-develop a flagship report on “A Digital Planet for Sustainability”. The report will be used as a core input to the planned CODES conference “Accelerating A Digital Planet for Sustainability” on 10-11 June.
The report is a synthesis of the digital transformation and environmental sustainability nexus. It seeks to lay the basis for international dialogue on how these two mega trends connect, the risks and opportunities they represent, and a set of short-term priorities for public and private sector collaboration.
The intention is to collectively influence how public and private sector funding is allocated to build a digital planet for sustainability in terms of the data, standards, safeguards, infrastructure, public-private partnerships and digital public goods. In particular, it will identify the kind of incentives and enabling policies that are needed to unlock commercial and public investment in thriving, inclusive and nature positive economies.
